Looks like the new hardware revision is a major improvement, which is a great thingThe older Prime HW revisions already had some of the best hardware specs for a graphing calculator on the market (only the Nspire CX series' amount of RAM beat the Prime), this new revision flattens everything else on the market. Even the processor architecture is probably newer than ARMv5, since 1+ GHz ARM9 processors are uncommon. The new hardware specs are definitely no longer going to be the limit for developing the graphing calculator abilities of this new modelAlthough 1 GB of Flash would have been better, and barely more expensive, the 512 MB of Flash this new calculator is likely to have are sufficient to run generic Linux and.BSD distros, with full-blown C or Python toolchains. There's more than enough stock available.I tried hard to resist but failed miserable so I pulled the trigger, went ahead and ordered 2. Hope you can expedite the shipping.
I got one for my daughter who is starting college this fall and it would be nice to get it before she starts.thx. ( 08:34 AM)KlaasKuperus Wrote: Yes, it is!

There's more than enough stock available.I nearly hit the 'order' button but then realized you don't charge VAT/BTW on overseas orders. This makes it highly inconvenient for me because Royal Mail will want to collect VAT from me, meaning that I have to book time off work to go to the post office and collect the parcel. This went smoothly. It's faster than my old HW-A, I've noticed this by reallocating the app icons at Application Library.I have not done any speed measurements.Of course the G2 has the high contrast keys. For the rest the same appearance.I’m very happy with my new G2 HP Prime!Hi Dirk,I ordered mine todayTell me.in regards to 3d graphing, there is a program someone made and has been refining.Have you used that in tandem w/this HP Prime G2?Thanks,StefosP.S. I PM'd & emailed Klaus as I ordered the G2 from his siteI hope he has that model in stock or I'll cancel the order.
This topic contains the largest amount of hardware characteristics and benchmarks I'm aware of.The TI-Planet topic relays this information and adds:. other pictures of the G2 calculator;. notes about the Prime G2 firmware upgrade process: unlike older Prime models, the G2 rejects small modifications to the standard OS. HP added signatures and a validation upon install: if the signature doesn't match the content, the OS upgrade is rejected.
Although this doesn't mean that the Prime G2 is as much of a closed platform than the TI-Nspire series (further examination is required), that's probably bad news for third-party programming on the Prime G2. I've started documenting the contents of the Prime G2 OS image. I stopped when I found what looks very much like the signature data. Going further in an efficient manner requires making a tool similar to imgmanip for the TI-Nspire series, and I didn't have time to do that yesterday evening. Is the firmware also separated in files (bootloader/OS/Prime) and it only checks signature on the Prime or it's completely locked down? Hi ClaudioQuote:For real?Well, yes, unfortunately. If it weren't, I wouldn't dare posting such fake newscritor noticed that the OS upgrade process now contained three phases: 'Verifying OS', 'Preparing OS' and 'Upgrading OS'. Then, he tried to modify a byte in the embedded Tunnel.prgm sample: the OS upgrade failed the validation, and the process aborted.
See and subsequent posts, in French.Quote:Is the firmware also separated in files (bootloader/OS/Prime)The HPPrimeOS.img file, which I started analyzing in that topic (but I should really be moving the information to the TI-Planet hpwiki. And also, I should have written the analysis in English from the get go!) contains separate files for the bootloader and the Prime OS. The 'files.sig' file contains validation information for 79 files.I haven't yet written a program to parse the HPPrimeOS.img file format. Hard to believe they would lock it down. Now there were reports in the past of a few bricked Primes during flashing, so it wouldn't surprise me if they implemented some kind of hash to verify that what you are about to burn into flash is what you intended.
Of course, we'd have to figure out how to recompute the hashes after changing a file (and by we I mean the community, which after simplifying the equation gets reduced to essentially. You and critor ).Complete lockdown with full crypto simply doesn't sound like an idea Tim or Cyrille would want to implement, just doesn't fit their profile.

What’s The Difference Between The HP Prime v2 and v1?This is not a full review of the hp prime, we will simply be explaining the difference between the different versions. If you would like a full review check our. BackgroundFor most peoples purposes, the differences between these two calculators will not be important at all. HP released the Prime in October, 2013 this is the first version of the calculator (v1).
![]() Hp Prime 2ap18aa
You will often see v1 be referred to as version A. HP later released the Prime version 2 (v2) in May of 2014. You will often see v2 be referred to as version C.The HP Prime v2 was just a slight product update for the HP Prime v1, we would barely call it a different version. But, the name HP Prime v2 has stuck on the internet and it has lead to some confusion. The DifferencesHP Prime v1, Versino A, model number: NW280AAHP Prime v2, Version C, modle number: G8X92AAThe two calculators are exactly the same, except the HP Prime v2 has.
Data collection capabilities. Wireless connectivity for teachersData Collection: The new version of the HP Prime allows for the collection of data via separately sold sensors. This means that you can buy things like thermometers for the Prime, plug them in via the HP STREAMSMART 410 and collect and store data all on your calculator.
This may be useful for some science classes, but for the vast majority of people, it probably isn’t necessary.Wireless Connectivity: The second difference is that the HP Prime v2 can connect wirelessly to a PC. This feature is mostly useful for teachers. It allows one computer to connect to a classroom full of calculators all at once. Once connected, via the, the teacher can monitor each calculator screen.
The teacher can also do things like send the calculators programs, set restrictions for testing and more. Check out this for more info on the wireless connectivity capabilities. Which To BuyIf you foresee using any of the features above, then you should defiantly go with the HP Prime v2.
If you are like most people and you don’t really care about the features above, then it really doesn’t matter which one you get. That being said the two calculators are pretty much the same price, so why not get the newer model?HP Prime v1HP Prime v2Also note that not all stores or online stores will always make it clear which version they are selling because the differences are so small. You could see an “HP Prime” for sale, and they wouldn’t specify v2 even though the calculator is the newest version.See NextContact UsIf you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch by DMing us on Instagram, emailing us at or, leaving a comment below. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com. I have slightly updated the code in my previous post. Those who want to load up the code in some RE tool can request that:. for the OS (HPPrime.img), 0x740118 bytes starting at offset 0x18 be loaded at 0x80000000;. for the bootloader (bootloader.img), 0x56784 bytes starting at offset 0x740144 be loaded at 0x80000000.It's clear that at least the boot code contains a software implementation of SHA-256, of which 0x8001C41C is one of the main components. Of course, I don't have the magic values in my head, but the pattern of random binary data mixed with code, in a long code block, is easily noticeable, and a generic search engine query for a single value led me to SHA-256 implementations.0x8001C41C is called only by 0x8001DCCC, which itself is called only by 0x8001A4CC, called only by 0x8001A566, called only by 0x800147C4, called only by 0x800113B0, which uses the 'Error in update.' UTF-8 string.Slightly above that routine, the UTF-8 string ' Verifying OS ' is pointed to by 0x8001139C, referenced at 0x80010A04. The routine which contains this reference is one of the two callers of 0x800113B0. On bootloader.img, I've spent a significant amount of time:.

annotating MRC, MCR and companion (mostly ANDS, ORRS, BICS) instructions.I wonder whether the trick used by ExtendeD, back in the day, to decrypt the Nspire's OS could be pulled here, in order to help RE the hash checking code in bootloader.img.BTW, there's also a software RSA implementation in bootloader.img. I just didn't happen to stumble on it at first.
There are plenty of references to a rsa.cpp file, which seems to have many lines, judging by the assert messages. For instance, 0x8001B56C contains such assert messages. It's called by 0x8001A848 (and 0x8001A98E, but that is called only by 0x8001A848), itself called only by 0x8001A3F0, called only by 0x8001A566 - which also calls the SHA256 functions, as mentioned in my above post.0x8001A3F0 receives from 0x8001A566 a pointer to an interesting data structure, which it passes directly to 0x8001A848.
